Getting ready
- Install the app before you travel, and open it once on Wi-Fi — the hotel's is fine. It saves every drive's route to your phone, and the map once the routes are in. Leave it open until it says everything is saved.
- Most of the drives have no mobile signal. Once the routes and the map are saved, the app doesn't need one.
- Star the drives you've signed up for. They are saved first and listed at the top.
- When the app asks to use your location, choose While Using the App. It needs your location to know where you are on the route.
On the road
- Open the drive and choose Map, Roadbook or Drive. Spoken turn warnings come a quarter mile out and again at the turn, on any of the three.
- Warnings keep coming with the screen locked or while you're in another app, for as long as the drive is open.
- At a lunch or rest stop the drive holds until you leave. Tap Resume if you want to carry on sooner, or the pause button to hold anywhere else.
- If the app closes mid-drive, open it again: the Drives screen offers to resume where you were.
Common questions
I don't hear the turn warnings
Check the phone's volume, and that Spoken turn warnings is on in the app's settings.
It says "Off route"
The app has lost the route — a wrong turn, or a stretch where the GPS wanders. The distances stay on screen, dimmed, and guidance carries on as soon as you are back on the route.
It says the location is off
Open the phone's Settings, find Palooza, and set Location to While Using the App.
It asks me to update
Update it from the App Store or Google Play before you drive. Your printed roadbook has every route in the meantime.
Your privacy
Your location stays on your phone, and the app has no account. The details are in our privacy policy.
